My Mercy Thompson cosplay for Sakura-con 2011. This was put together using pieces I already had in my closet. The paw print tattoo is thanks to my friend Ericka, which was drawn on with Sharpie after I met up with her and my other friends at the con.

Mercy Thompson is the main character from a book series by Patricia Briggs, super awesome!

Favorite Mercy cosplay I've seen so far since browsing. A lot of the others are clearly inspired by the cover arts, which are pretty, but not really loyal to what's described in the books. Thumbs up.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was going for. I love the covers, I think their beautiful, but they really don't describe Mercy as person, who is actually very modest. If I thought I could've pulled it off without showing my belly I would have, but since I was working straight from my closet and didn't make anything save using scrap fabric in the pigtails I felt it was important to show the tattoo (drawn with Sharpie, go Sharpie!).

I will, hopefully, be redoing this cosplay soon, at a few of the locations mentioned in the books :)

I look forward to photos :3 The thing with the covers is they're over-sensualized, whereas your belly-bearing in this is different, it shows a somewhat important part of who she is in a more casual way. Although she's never described as wearing gloves or leather as you have her, it still conveys her badassery to people who and who don't know her. Personally I think her more likely to dress like that, than like any of the covers. Ever. MAYBE Silver Borne. For a really special occasion.

You're the first cosplayer I've seen to actually LOOK like Mercy! :D I'd be happy with you if they made a movie! LOL! Love it! :D

still, totally rockin' idea! plus, we could always make an attempt at more wedding planning stuff... which never happened at SteamCon >.<

It really didn't help that Amber and Steve got in late, and then the next day, as soon as they had their stuff packed into their van, they hit a couple of panels while the rest of us were still scrambling to pack our respective vehicles and get the hell out of dodge.

true, I'm actually more irritated that we didn't get more photos... an impromptu session during day one was it :(
